Our vision and mission statements reflect York University’s commitment to excellence in education. The faculty, SP's and administration of the SPM Lab are united by shared core values and objectives to enhance experiential education across a pan university context. This includes

Vision

Our vision is to promote excellence in delivering Simulated Person Methodology as an experiential education approach to foster pan university collaborations, liaison, and network as well as become a leader by enhancing simulation research intensity and capacity.

Mission

The mission of the Simulated Person Methodology Lab is to understand the dynamics and implications of human interactions in immersive simulations experiences. Our work is centered on using experiential education methodologies to explore how people or learners interact with their worlds and develop personally and professionally.

We are inspired by a commitment to learner achievement through excellence in simulation education by:

  • Integrating evidence based and best practice simulation standards
  • Creating an immersive learning environment for the learner that supports knowledge integration, problem- solving and critical thinking and reasoning in order to prepare workplace ready graduates across multiple disciplines
  • Building capacity within Faculties in order to optimize the learner experience
  • Partnering with community organizations that require SP methodology in education and professional development programs
  • Exploring dynamics and implications of human interactions and dynamics through the use of immersive simulation experiences
  • Providing a low cost SP program to engage university community with experiential education
